Job Overview
Sasol is looking for a skilled Technician II – Instrumentation to support maintenance, installation, and optimization of instrumentation and control systems.
This role plays a critical part in improving system performance, reducing downtime, and ensuring operational efficiency through advanced technical analysis and maintenance practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on instrumentation and control systems
- Install and upgrade digital and analog control systems
- Support multi-disciplinary engineering project teams
- Conduct Failure Trend Analysis (FTA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Perform operational testing and system adjustments
- Work with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) to enhance performance
- Analyse data, generate reports, and track maintenance activities
- Implement predictive maintenance strategies
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations
- Maintain documentation and maintenance records
- Collaborate with stakeholders to improve system reliability
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
Technical Requirements
- Experience with Allen Bradley Systems (PLC & FactoryTalk)
- Knowledge of industrial networks
- Strong understanding of instrumentation and control systems
- Electrical and engineering fundamentals
Minimum Requirements
Education
- National Senior Certificate / N3 (Maths, Physical Science & English)
- National Diploma in Process Instrumentation
Experience
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in instrumentation or related field
