Job Overview

Sasol is looking for a skilled Technician II – Instrumentation to support maintenance, installation, and optimization of instrumentation and control systems.

This role plays a critical part in improving system performance, reducing downtime, and ensuring operational efficiency through advanced technical analysis and maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on instrumentation and control systems
  • Install and upgrade digital and analog control systems
  • Support multi-disciplinary engineering project teams
  • Conduct Failure Trend Analysis (FTA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Perform operational testing and system adjustments
  • Work with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) to enhance performance
  • Analyse data, generate reports, and track maintenance activities
  • Implement predictive maintenance strategies
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations
  • Maintain documentation and maintenance records
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve system reliability
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives

Technical Requirements

  • Experience with Allen Bradley Systems (PLC & FactoryTalk)
  • Knowledge of industrial networks
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation and control systems
  • Electrical and engineering fundamentals

Minimum Requirements

 Education

  • National Senior Certificate / N3 (Maths, Physical Science & English)
  • National Diploma in Process Instrumentation

 Experience

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in instrumentation or related field
