 About the Role

SARS is looking for a detail-oriented Software Tester to ensure delivery of high-quality, reliable, and compliant digital systems.

You will work within the Systems Qualification & Testing team, executing test cases, identifying defects, and ensuring systems meet both business and technical requirements before release.

 Job Purpose

To execute testing processes and capture defects during project and maintenance testing in line with SARS standards.

 Key Responsibilities

 Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Execute test cases using tools like Octane
  • Perform functional and non-functional testing
  • Identify, log, and track system defects
  • Participate in all testing phases (Unit, System, Regression, Stability)

 System & Process Understanding

  • Understand systems being tested
  • Ensure accurate defect tracking and reporting
  • Update testing progress continuously

 Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to improving testing processes and standards
  • Support implementation of system changes
  • Identify risks and propose solutions

 Reporting & Communication

  • Report testing progress and defects
  • Communicate effectively with team members
  • Escalate unresolved issues

 Education & Experience

 Option 1:

  • Higher Certificate (NQF 5) in IT
  • 3 years’ software testing experience
  • Course in Practical Software Testing

 Option 2:

  • Matric (NQF 4)
  • 4 years’ software testing experience
  • Course in Practical Software Testing

 Technical Requirements

  • Knowledge of testing tools (e.g. Octane)
  • MS Word & Excel proficiency
  • Software testing methodologies
  • Defect tracking and reporting
