 Role Overview

The Senior Professional Nurse supports the Unit Manager to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. This includes coordinating care delivery, reducing clinical risks, mentoring junior nurses, and enhancing the overall patient experience.

 Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality patient care
• Manage and improve patient experience
• Support staffing efficiency and resource planning
• Mentor and develop student and junior nurses
• Assist with managing operational costs (stock & equipment)
• Ensure compliance with clinical standards and procedures

 Minimum Requirements

Education:

• Professional Nurse qualification
• Postgraduate Diploma (required for specialist units)

Experience:

• 3+ years nursing experience in a hospital
• 1+ year mentoring experience

 Skills & Knowledge

• Patient assessment & care planning
• Nursing procedures & record keeping
• Infection prevention & control
• Pharmacology knowledge
• Understanding of healthcare legislation
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Risk identification & clinical auditing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Mentorship and leadership skills

Additional certifications (for specialised wards): ACLS, ATLS, PALS
