 Position Purpose

To take overall responsibility for the maintenance and operation of propulsion engines, auxiliary systems, and onboard machinery within port limits. The role ensures optimal vessel availability through effective coordination, compliance, and leadership.

 Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage annual lay-up maintenance within budget
• Train and develop cadet and certificated engineers
• Manage contractors to ensure quality and timely maintenance
• Coordinate with maintenance teams for availability of critical spares
• Ensure compliance with maritime laws and safety regulations
• Manage fuel and lubrication consumption efficiently
• Implement preventative maintenance systems
• Conduct inspections to ensure safety and loss control
• Prepare vessels for safe sea operations

 Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

• Certificate of Competency as a Second Engineer (Unlimited)

Experience:

• 1–3 years experience as a Second Engineer

Additional Requirements:

• Valid Driver’s License (Code 8)
• Willingness to travel as required
• High level of integrity (financial responsibility compliance)

 Knowledge Required

• Mechanical and electrical systems (high & low voltage)
• Technical drawing interpretation
• OHSACT, MARPOL, SOLAS
• Merchant Shipping Act & IMO Regulations
• Company policies and procedures

• Computer literacy
