 Job Purpose

To perform general operational and cleaning duties within the DAF unit, feather area, sump area, and overall abattoir, ensuring compliance with company procedures and maintaining production efficiency.

 Key Responsibilities

• Clean DAF unit, feather press, sump pit, and feather area
• Ensure all equipment is washed and maintained
• Report damaged or faulty machinery immediately
• Assist with inspection of shackles and yokes during start-ups
• Monitor machine performance and report failures
• Assist with replacing plucker fingers during maintenance
• Ensure valves, pumps, scrapers, and screens are functional
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of work areas for production

 Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent

Experience:

• Basic maintenance or machinery experience (advantageous)

 Physical & Work Requirements

• Able to work in warm abattoir environments with strong odors
• Physically fit (standing and manual work required)
• Willing to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays

 Skills & Competencies

• Understanding of production processes
• Knowledge of health & safety procedures (PPE)
• Team player
• Ability to work under pressure
