 Job Purpose

The Master Installation Electrician is responsible for the verification, certification, inspection, and maintenance of electrical installations in compliance with national regulations. The role ensures safe and efficient operations in the custody, transfer, and transportation of petroleum products.

 Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Certification

• Manage Certificates of Compliance (COCs)
• Conduct periodic inspections in line with national codes and OHS Act
• Perform hazardous area equipment inspections
• Ensure compliance of electrical equipment in hazardous environments

Electrical Installations & Maintenance

• Oversee and guide electrical installations
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment
• Identify, analyse, and repair electrical defects
• Read and interpret schematics and technical reports

Equipment & Operations

• Maintain integrity of electrical equipment
• Remove, replace, and install live equipment safely
• Refurbish and certify electrical equipment
• Work on motors, actuators, panels, and control systems

High Voltage Operations

• Perform switching and earthing up to 132KV
• Issue work and test permits
• Supervise work in substations and high-voltage yards

Safety (OHS)

• Conduct safety inspections and attend meetings
• Ensure compliance with flameproof and safety standards
• Use appropriate PPE and enforce safety protocols

Administration

• Maintain reports, job cards, and inspection records
• Operate SAP (MM & IM modules)
• Manage permits and compliance documentation
• Assist with audits and act as Electrical Supervisor when required

 Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

• Trade Test Electrical (Minimum 3 years)
• Registered Master Installation Electrician (Dept. of Labour)
• Wireman’s Licence
• Code 8 Driver’s Licence

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years technical/electrical experience
• Additional 2 years on-the-job training for Master Installation accreditation

Certifications & Training:

• High Voltage Safety (A-Brown)
• SAP PM (MM & IM Modules)
• First Aid Level 2
• Fire Fighting & Oil Spill Response
• NOSA Safety Training
• Explosion Protection Certification
• Confined Space Training
• Electrical Motor & Transformer Courses
• Rotork Actuator Training
