Purpose of the Job
The Artisan Mechanical Fitter supports operations by ensuring effective equipment maintenance and reliability. This role focuses on maintaining plant and pipeline sustainability while adhering to safety standards and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance work to ensure equipment reliability
- Use plant maintenance and work management systems
- Apply safety procedures and emergency protocols
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments
- Participate in daily meetings, PDAs, and RCAs
- Maintain housekeeping and waste disposal standards
- Provide feedback on work progress and system updates
- Support maintenance strategy and continuous improvement
- Mentor junior artisans and learners
- Perform standby duties and pipeline maintenance (MSP)
- Operate heavy machinery (cranes, trucks, tractors, etc.)
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Maths, Science & English OR N3 Certificate
- Trade Test Certificate (Mechanical Fitting / Millwright)
- Valid Driver’s License Code 10
- Knowledge of plant maintenance systems
Advantageous:
- NQF Level 4 Certificate
Experience
- Minimum 3+ years relevant experience in a similar environment
