Purpose of the Role
As an Artisan Instrument Mechanician, you will ensure the safe, reliable operation of plant equipment through monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Your work will directly support operational efficiency and business continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control plant machinery to ensure safe operations
- Perform fault-finding, diagnostics, and emergency repairs
- Execute preventive maintenance routines
- Interpret and apply maintenance and work management systems
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) processes
- Maintain accurate maintenance and equipment records
- Ensure compliance with safety systems (IMS, MBO, etc.)
- Contribute to plant safety, stability, and performance improvements
- Mentor junior artisans and support team development
- Assist in developing work instructions and best practices
- Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards
Minimum Requirements
Education
- National Senior Certificate or N3 (Maths, English, Physical Science)
- Trade Test Certificate (Instrumentation – Red Seal)
Experience
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience
Licenses
- Valid Driver’s License
