ABOUT THE BURSARY
The FirstRand Empowerment Foundation offers bursaries to support academically talented students in pursuing their first undergraduate degree at public universities in South Africa.
The programme focuses on developing critical skills needed to drive South Africa’s growth and reduce youth unemployment.
WHO CAN APPLY?
• Black South African citizens (as defined by BBBEE Act)
• Current Grade 12 learners OR those who completed Grade 12 within the last 3 years
• Applicants not older than 21 in first year of study
• Combined household income not exceeding R700,000 per year
• Must be provisionally accepted at a public traditional university

• Commerce (Accounting, Economics, Actuarial Science, Finance)
• Engineering (All specialisations)
• Environmental & Climate Sciences
• Information Technology & Data Science
• Mathematical Sciences (Maths, Statistics, Risk)
• Natural Sciences (Physics, Biosciences, Electronics)
• Social Sciences & Law
• Arts (Psychology, Digital Arts, Architecture, Design)
• Health Sciences (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, etc.)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum Level 5 in Mathematics (Grade 12)
• Strong academic performance
• Demonstrated potential and financial need
