About the Bursary
The PRF, administered through the National Institute for Communicable Diseases, funds students pursuing honours-level studies in virology and related disciplines.
This programme supports students who want to contribute to scientific research and public health improvement.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be registered for a BSc (Hons) degree
- Have a minimum academic average of 60%
- Be a South African citizen or permanent resident (preferred)

- All required supporting documents
- Grants Application Signatory Form (download and upload)
Important Notes
- Applications must be submitted before the deadline
- Late applications will NOT be accepted
- All sections must be fully completed
- Missing documents may lead to disqualification
Post-Study Requirements
After completing your degree:
- Submit a Final Bursary Form
- Provide:
- Proof of graduation
- List of publications
