Job Purpose
The Team Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance and repair of dangerous goods vehicles and pool cars.
The role ensures safety, reliability, cost efficiency, and full compliance with company standards and legal requirements within a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and supervise maintenance teams
- Manage diesel mechanics and service providers across multiple sites (Alrode, Waltloo, Secunda)
- Oversee maintenance schedules to ensure compliance and fleet efficiency
- Ensure adherence to service level agreements and company policies
- Support Sasol’s zero harm and zero non-compliance culture
- Perform quality checks on workmanship and job cards
- Conduct audits, inspections, and implement corrective actions
- Manage fleet compliance (licenses, permits, inspections, tracking systems)
- Identify cost-saving initiatives and improve fleet performance
- Manage team performance, attendance, and development
- Participate in recruitment and staff selection processes
- Handle disciplinary matters and workplace challenges
- Ensure all safety procedures and risk mitigation measures are followed
- Maintain and update fleet maintenance procedures and policies
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics & Physical Science
- Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate
- Minimum 6+ years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic
- At least 6 months managerial experience (advantageous)
