Job Purpose
- Safely transport dangerous goods across borders
- Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and company regulations
- Maintain accurate documentation and delivery schedules
Key Responsibilities
- Transport dangerous goods safely across South Africa and neighbouring countries
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation
- Follow all traffic and dangerous goods regulations
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report defects
- Ensure safe loading, securing, and off-loading of cargo
- Communicate with controllers regarding deliveries
- Report incidents, breakdowns, or delays immediately
- Maintain cleanliness and roadworthiness of the vehicle
- Ensure compliance with border control and customs procedures
- Monitor fuel usage and report irregularities
- Stay on assigned routes and follow delivery schedules
Duties
- Assist with loading and off-loading goods
- Hitch and unhitch trailers and tankers
- Conduct shunting when required
- Maintain safety equipment and report damages
- Ensure compliance with SHERQ and safety standards
- Provide professional customer service
- Be available via cellphone (24/7 communication)
- Ensure truck and trailer documentation is compliant
Minimum Requirements
- Valid South African ID
- Valid Code 14 Driver’s License
- Valid Dangerous Goods License
- Minimum 3 years tanker driving experience
- Clean driving record (no serious offences in last 3 years)
- Minimum Grade 10 (Grade 12 preferred)
- No criminal record
- Must be over 25 years old
- Must be fully vaccinated
