Overview
South African Breweries (SAB) is offering a valuable Brewing In-Service Trainee opportunity for students seeking practical, hands-on experience in a world-class production environment. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about brewing processes, engineering, and food science.
Purpose of the Role
To support brewing operations by operating equipment, monitoring processes, conducting quality checks, and assisting with maintenance and continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate brewing equipment (Brew House, Cellars, Filtration, Bright Beer Tanks)
- Monitor process performance and identify deviations
- Record production data, waste, and product movement
- Perform cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of equipment
- Identify and report faulty equipment for maintenance
- Conduct quality checks and record results
- Participate in team meetings and improvement initiatives
- Ensure proper shift handovers
- Use problem-solving techniques (e.g., 5 Why’s) to resolve issues
Minimum Requirements
- Studying towards a National Diploma in:
- Chemical Engineering
- Food Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Must be a 3rd Year student
- Basic understanding of brewing and chemical processes
- Computer literacy (PC skills)
- Ability to work in a team
Key Competencies

- Technical understanding of production processes
