- Job Title: Artisan Grade 2 – Mechanical Fitter
- Location: Secunda, Mpumalanga
- Business Unit: Secunda Operations (OPP)

Purpose of the Role
To operate, maintain, and repair mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment while ensuring safety, reliability, and optimal plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Operations
- Perform routine mechanical maintenance and repairs
- Operate plant machinery and equipment
- Interpret maintenance documentation and systems
- Ensure equipment reliability and uptime
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments
- Apply safety management systems (IMS, MBO)
- Follow emergency procedures
- Maintain housekeeping and waste standards
Teamwork & Reporting
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and meetings
- Provide feedback on job progress
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) processes
- Capture maintenance history for system improvements
Leadership & Development
- Mentor junior artisans and learners
- Assist in developing work instructions
- Contribute to maintenance strategies
- Identify personal training and development needs
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / N3 with:
- Mathematics
- English
- Physical Science
- Mechanical Trade Test (Red Seal)
Experience Required
- Minimum 3+ years relevant experience
- Experience in plant, mining, or industrial environments
Additional Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License
