Job Overview

This role is responsible for supervising the Wine/Liquor department, ensuring compliance with company standards, managing staff, maintaining merchandising standards, and achieving sales and operational targets.

The position requires strong leadership, customer service, and operational management skills to ensure the department runs efficiently.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12

• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience

• Experience in the Wine/Liquor department or managing a retail department

Key Responsibilities

Merchandising Management

• Execute plano guides and merchandising standards.

• Rotate stock according to company policies.

• Maintain department cleanliness and merchandising standards.

• Ensure promotional displays follow company guidelines.

• Maintain stock representation on the sales floor and backup areas.

• Escalate stock issues to the Store Manager.

Systems & Stock Management

• Perform gap scanning for out-of-stock items.

• Identify and record overstock and stock shortages.

• Generate Excel reports from SAP and communicate stock concerns to Demand Planning.

• Process IDTs and reduced-to-clear items via SAP.

• Monitor electronic communications and updates during the workday.

Customer Service

• Handle customer complaints and special requests.

• Assist customers with product advice and recommendations.

People Management

• Evaluate staff performance against set objectives.

• Assist with staff scheduling and workforce planning.

• Communicate store updates and departmental performance.

• Motivate and coach team members.

• Identify and support staff training needs.

Finance & Administration

• Ensure equipment is maintained and operational.

• Monitor departmental expenses and investigate budget deviations.

• Manage waste control and ensure procedures are followed.
