Job Purpose

The Risk Engineer analyses and investigates risk exposures across the organisation and implements risk engineering practices to improve safety, compliance, and loss control.

The role focuses on identifying trends, diagnosing potential risks, and implementing mitigation strategies, particularly in fire prevention, detection, and protection. The Risk Engineer works closely with the Risk Engineering Manager to maintain risk processes and support continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Assessment & Analysis

• Analyse and categorise risks and trends across the organisation.

• Conduct site risk assessments and document findings.

• Identify underlying causes of risk exposures and recommend mitigation measures.

Compliance Implementation & Monitoring

• Review compliance requirements from legislation and internal policies.

• Monitor fire prevention, detection, and protection systems.

• Maintain risk registers and compliance documentation.

Project Coordination

• Develop project proposals, procedures, and policies related to risk initiatives.

• Implement and monitor risk-related projects.

• Review project progress and resolve execution challenges.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Investigate stakeholder requirements and define project objectives.

• Provide advice on risk mitigation actions.

• Communicate status reports, meeting minutes, and technical documentation.

Operational Administration

• Maintain accurate risk-related data and administrative processes.

• Review technical reports and engineering documentation for accuracy.

Continuous Improvement

• Research regulatory developments and industry best practices.

• Improve risk engineering tools and methodologies.

• Develop recommendations to enhance safety and compliance across the organisation.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Risk Management, or related technical field (Preferred)

Experience

• Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Risk Engineer or similar role.

• Experience in risk assessment, compliance monitoring, and project execution.

Advantageous:

• Experience in retail, FMCG, or engineering environments.

• Practical experience in health & safety, building control, or regulatory risk management.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Knowledge Areas:

• Hazard analysis and risk assessment techniques.

• Risk engineering principles and mitigation strategies.

• Health and safety practices.

• Reviewing technical documentation and engineering standards.

• Project management methodologies.
