Purpose of the Job
To operate process equipment and systems at the Komatipoort Compressor Station safely and efficiently to meet production requirements within the Sasol environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations
-
Operate processes under normal conditions according to SOPs
-
Perform plant start-ups and shutdowns
-
Commission and de-commission plant equipment and systems
-
Perform sampling for quality testing and fault finding
-
Load and off-load hazardous and non-hazardous products
Inspection & Maintenance
-
Conduct equipment inspections (valves, pumps, vessels, etc.)
-
Complete safety checklists and risk assessments
-
Identify and correct abnormal plant conditions
-
Conduct fault finding and incident investigations
-
Assist in reviewing and developing SOPs
Safety & Compliance
-
Adhere to SHERQ standards and legal requirements
-
Follow Permit-to-Work (PtW) procedures
-
Issue permits where required
-
Take the lead during emergency exercises or responses
-
Report hazardous conditions and unsafe deviations
Administration & Reporting
-
Load and prioritise SAP notifications
-
Exchange information during shift handovers
-
Maintain accurate log sheets
-
Complete training according to training matrix
Minimum Qualifications
✔ Grade 12 with Mathematics, Science & English OR N3 Certificate (Essential)
✔ NQF Level 4 Certificate in Chemical Operations (Essential)
✔ Valid Driver’s Licence – Code 08 (Essential)
Experience Required
✔ Minimum 3+ years relevant experience in a similar plant environment
✔ Permit-to-Work (PtW) issuing competency
✔ Safety Standby and Gas Monitoring experience
✔ Knowledge of the OSH Act
✔ Computer literacy
✔ Basic hand tool proficiency
