 Main Purpose of the Job

To professionally manage patient admissions and discharges, ensuring compliance with procedures while minimising operational and financial risks. The role focuses on delivering exceptional service and maintaining strict patient confidentiality within a private healthcare environment.

 Key Responsibilities

• Capture and process admissions, pre-admissions, and bookings according to procedure

• Identify and prevent financial risks through strict policy adherence

• Ensure effective discharge processes as per the Patient Administration Manual

• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times

• Support smooth bed management and daily preparation processes

 Required Education

Essential:

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent

• No minimum experience required

Desired:

• Reception or administration experience

• Experience in a private healthcare facility

 Required Skills & Knowledge

• Patient Administration systems (AS400)

• Admissions and bed management functions

• ICD and CPT coding knowledge

• Medical Aid Schemes and private healthcare processes

• Workman’s Compensation Act (WCA) procedures

• Financial risk identification (e.g., blacklisted patients, valuables handling)

• Debtpack Enquiry application

• Emergency and major incident protocols

• Hospital switchboard systems

• Microsoft Office proficiency

• Strong understanding of patient confidentiality and cash handling procedures
