About the Role

This role is responsible for managing mining operations, leading crews, and ensuring safety, productivity, and compliance within the assigned section.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage mining crews to meet production targets
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards
  • Plan, organise, and control day-to-day mining activities
  • Conduct:
    • Start and end of shift inspections
    • Gas and ventilation tests
    • Risk assessments and task observations
  • Oversee safe transport of employees within the section
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and equipment
  • Manage materials and resource availability
  • Maintain accurate reports, records, and SAP inputs
  • Act as Relieving Shift Boss when required
  • Conduct rescue drills and emergency preparedness activities
  • Coach and develop team members
  • Manage attendance, performance, and training needs
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and Codes of Practice
  • Participate in Operational Excellence meetings and share insights
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • National Senior Certificate with Mathematics
  • Blasting Certificate (Fiery Mines) – Trade Qualification

Experience

  • Minimum 4+ years relevant mining experience

Licenses

  • Valid RSA Driver’s License
