 Purpose of the Job

The Maintenance Operator Grade 2 (Mechanical) role supports the maintenance and operation of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and equipment. The role focuses on ensuring equipment reliability, collecting accurate field data, and maintaining high safety and productivity standards within the plant environment.

 Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Applying and maintaining safety standards in the workplace

  • Supporting mechanical and electro-mechanical maintenance activities

  • Conducting plant inspections and performing repairs to ensure equipment reliability

  • Identifying faults using approved troubleshooting methods

  • Participating in root cause analyses (RCA) and providing feedback to teams

  • Attending daily morning meetings and toolbox talks

  • Providing regular feedback to supervisors and customers on work progress

  • Maintaining good housekeeping and proper waste disposal

  • Capturing accurate maintenance history for renewals and upgrades

  • Participating in PDAs and RCAs to improve plant safety and stability

  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives

  • Attending required training courses and identifying personal development needs

 Minimum Requirements

 Education

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics, English, and Science
    OR

  • N3 with Mathematics and Engineering Science

  • NQF Level 2 Occupational Qualification

 License

  • Valid Driver’s License Code C1 (old Code 10)

 Experience

  • 1–2+ years relevant mechanical or maintenance experience

  • Equipment utilisation and engineering implementation
