Important: Appointments will be made from Fire Fighter in Training up to Leading Fire Fighter level. Placement and rank will depend on qualifications, experience, and career path requirements.

 Purpose of the Role

To protect company assets and ensure emergency preparedness by responding effectively to SHERQ-related emergency incidents within the Sasol operational environment.

 Key Responsibilities

 Emergency Response

  • React to emergency situations in accordance with established procedures

  • Apply SHE best practices during emergency management activities

  • Ensure readiness of critical safety equipment

  • Support continuous improvement of emergency response processes

 Training & Development

  • Present and facilitate training interventions to employees and service providers

  • Deliver classroom and practical field-based emergency training

  • Ensure compliance with SAESI, LG SETA, and QCTO standards

  • Identify improvements in training effectiveness and service delivery

 Teamwork & Performance

  • Work cooperatively with all stakeholders

  • Ensure performance against Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

  • Deliver on Personal Development Plan (PDP) actions

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

 Minimum Qualifications

✔ Grade 12 with Mathematical Literacy (or higher qualification)
✔ Medically fit according to Fire Fighter fitness assessment standards
✔ Fire Fighter 1 & 2 (NFPA 1001) – Required
✔ Hazmat Awareness & Operations (NFPA 1072/472) – Required

Advantageous Qualifications (Wish):

✔ HPCSA Registered BAA (BLS) or First Aid Level 3
✔ HPCSA Registered ILS
✔ Fire & Emergency Service Instructor 1 (NFPA 1041)

 Experience Required

✔ 2 – 5 years relevant firefighting or emergency response experience
