Job Overview

West Wits Mining is looking for a highly experienced and assertive Human Resources Manager to lead the full HR and Industrial Relations (IR) function within its mining operations.

This role will oversee employees, contractors, and service providers, ensuring full compliance with South African labour laws, mining regulations, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Management

  • Lead and manage the full HR function across the mining operation.

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives.

  • Drive performance management, succession planning, and talent development.

  • Ensure compliance with Social and Labour Plan (HRD & EE) requirements.

Industrial Relations (IR)

  • Lead all IR matters including disciplinary processes, grievances, and disputes.

  • Represent the company at CCMA.

  • Manage union relationships and negotiations.

  • Provide strategic IR guidance to management.

Contractor & Workforce Management

  • Oversee all contractors within the mining operation.

  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, EE requirements, and company policies.

  • Conduct contractor audits and monitor workforce planning.

Employment Equity & Compliance

  • Drive and manage Employment Equity (EE) compliance.

  • Prepare and submit statutory reports (EE Reports, WSP, ATR).

  • Ensure compliance with the Mining Charter and transformation targets.

Reporting & Governance

  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual HR/IR reports.

  • Present workforce analytics to senior management and board.

  • Manage HR budgets and ensure accurate reporting.

  • Submit reports to Department of Labour and Department of Mineral Resources.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources / Industrial Psychology / Labour Law (Required)

  • Postgraduate qualification in HR / Labour Law / IR (Advantageous)

Experience

  • 5–10 years HR Management experience in the mining industry

  • Strong Industrial Relations experience (essential)

  • Experience managing contractors in a regulated environment

  • Experience reporting at senior management level

  • Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)

  • Mining Charter requirements
