Purpose of the Role
To protect company assets by supporting emergency management operations and maintaining firefighting and life-support equipment in preparation for SHERQ-related incidents.
Key Responsibilities
Emergency & Safety Support
-
Apply SHE best practices during emergency activities
-
React appropriately to emergency situations
-
Participate in emergency preparedness training
-
Ensure compliance with safety standards
Equipment Maintenance
-
Recondition firefighting and life-support equipment
-
Service portable firefighting equipment across plants and buildings
-
Maintain emergency equipment readiness
-
Identify improvements in emergency maintenance processes
Performance & Development
-
Participate in KPA and PDP discussions
-
Deliver on personal development actions
-
Contribute to safety improvement initiatives
-
Participate in housekeeping and maintenance activities
Minimum Qualifications
✔ Grade 12 with Mathematics or equivalent qualification
✔ Medically fit according to Fire Fighter fitness standards
Advantageous (Wish):
✔ Fire Fighter 1 & 2 (NFPA 1001)
✔ HPCSA Registered BAA (BLS) or First Aid Level 3
✔ HPCSA Registered ILS
✔ Hazmat Awareness & Operations (NFPA 1072/472)
Experience Required
✔ 0 – 5 years relevant experience
