Job Purpose

The E-Card Reconciliation Clerk is responsible for accurately and timeously reconciling and settling all electronic card and wallet payment tender types (e-tenders).

The role supports store and customer queries related to electronic payment transactions while ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reconciliation of settlements. The position reports to the Cash & Banking Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Reconciliation & Financial Processing

  • Reconcile electronic card and wallet payment tender types (e-tenders) per store.

  • Reconcile bank accounts related to e-tender settlements.

  • Reconcile control accounts to ensure accuracy of debtor and creditor sub-ledgers.

  • Investigate unreconciled transactions and resolve queries.

Transaction Management

  • Process daily exceptions and escalate unresolved queries to external service providers.

  • Verify the accuracy of external service provider invoices.

  • Calculate and process monthly commission and rebate accounting entries.

Financial Control & Compliance

  • Verify entries by comparing system reports with balances.

  • Allocate credits and payments accurately to invoices.

  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with company policies.

  • Ensure compliance with PCI, FICA, and POPIA guidelines.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Respond professionally to stakeholder queries via phone and email.

  • Support internal teams and external partners regarding reconciliation issues.

Administration

  • Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly financial duties are completed on time.

  • Perform ad-hoc administrative tasks when required.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Accounting certificate, diploma, or equivalent qualification (Essential).

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a finance, administration, or similar role.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential:

  • Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel).

  • Understanding of corporate and retail business environments.

  • Exposure to SAP accounting systems.

Advantageous:

  • Knowledge of electronic payment processes.

  • Transaction reconciliation experience.

  • Internet banking processes.
