Job Overview

GIBB Mining, a subsidiary of the GIBB Group, is seeking a Cost Controller to support capital and EPCM project cost management.

GIBB Mining specialises in engineering design and project management solutions for mining projects, covering the full lifecycle from concept to commissioning.

The Cost Controller will be responsible for project cost estimation, budget control, forecasting, and financial reporting, ensuring project costs remain aligned with budgets and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimation & Budgeting

  • Develop detailed EPCM and capital cost estimates for all project phases.

  • Prepare and manage project budgets aligned with financial targets.

  • Use industry benchmarks and historical data to improve cost estimation accuracy.

Cost Control & Monitoring

  • Monitor actual vs planned project expenditures.

  • Analyse cost variances and recommend corrective actions.

  • Implement cost control systems and reporting processes.

Forecasting & Reporting

  • Prepare cash flow schedules and financial forecasts.

  • Produce regular cost reports for project managers and stakeholders.

  • Identify potential risks of cost overruns and savings opportunities.

Risk & Value Engineering

  • Conduct financial risk assessments for project uncertainties.

  • Apply value engineering methods to optimise project resources.

  • Recommend cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.

Project Collaboration & Stakeholder Support

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams.

  • Support contract negotiations with cost analysis and financial data.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and project standards.

Contract & Financial Administration

  • Prepare and submit monthly progress certificates and invoices.

  • Ensure sub-consultancy agreements are awarded on time.

  • Coordinate with engineering staff to ensure accurate capture of work hours.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • BCom Degree or Diploma in Business Management

  • ICC Certification

  • CEASA Membership

Experience

  • 3 – 5 years experience in Construction Project Capital Cost Control

  • Experience with EPCM project budgeting and financial management

  • Experience compiling construction capital cost estimates

  • Experience with EPCM budget change management

  • Experience managing construction contract claims

Technical Skills

  • Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)

  • Cash flow scheduling and forecast projections

  • Earned Value Analysis

  • Cost Control Systems (e.g., Prism Project Manager or similar)

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
