Job Overview
GIBB Mining, a subsidiary of the GIBB Group, is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join its team in Secunda.
GIBB Mining specialises in engineering design and project management solutions for mining projects, covering the entire lifecycle from concept to commissioning.
The Construction Manager will oversee all construction activities across assigned mining projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, engineering standards, and project delivery timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Execution & Control

Manage and oversee construction activities to deliver project scope within schedule and quality requirements.

Ensure contractors follow the latest engineering drawings and documentation.

Ensure safe construction practices aligned with MHSA, OHSA, NEMA, and client requirements.
Schedule Management
-
Monitor construction progress against the project schedule.

Lead weekly progress meetings with project stakeholders.

Maintain accurate daily records of project progress and delays.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
-
Implement and enforce project quality management systems.

Ensure all work complies with engineering specifications and regulatory standards.

Promote behavioural safety practices and a zero-harm safety culture.
Risk Management
-
Identify potential construction risks early and implement mitigation strategies.

Escalate critical issues to the Project Manager when required.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
-
Maintain professional relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Coordinate construction interfaces between engineers, contractors, and project teams.
Contract & Scope Management
-
Ensure all construction work aligns with approved project scope.

Support change management and contract administration processes.
Team Leadership
-
Supervise and guide site personnel.

Monitor staff performance and discipline.

Resolve conflicts and support team development.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
-
National Diploma or Degree in Engineering
-
PMP Certification (Preferred)
-
GCC Mines & Works (Advantageous)
Experience & Knowledge
-
Minimum 10 years experience in construction management within EPCM mining environments.

Strong knowledge of mining construction methods, including shafts, bulk materials handling, and geotechnical applications.
-
Experience with regulatory compliance in SHEQ environments.
