About the KPMG Bursary

KPMG offers bursaries to promising university students who need support to continue their studies. To be considered, applicants must first apply for a KPMG training contract. After applying for the training contract and receiving a Taleo reference number, students can then apply for the bursary.

KPMG offers two bursary options:

1. Pure Merit Bursary
Awarded based only on academic performance.

2. Merit Bursary with Financial Need
Awarded based on academic performance and financial need.

KPMG decides which bursary type an applicant qualifies for, as well as the amount awarded.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, you must:

  • Be studying a SAICA-recognised degree

  • Be studying full-time

  • Complete your degree in the minimum number of years

  • Meet the academic requirements for your current level of study

Academic Requirements

Matric

  • At least 4 A symbols

  • Life Orientation is excluded

First Year

  • Minimum 65% overall average

  • Minimum 70% for Accounting

Second Year

  • Minimum 65% overall average

  • Minimum 65% for Accounting

Third Year

  • Minimum 60% overall average

  • Minimum 60% for Accounting

Honours / CTA

  • Minimum 50% overall average

  • Minimum 55% for Accounting

Important Conditions

  • A bursary application will only be considered if you apply online and upload all required documents.

  • KPMG has the sole discretion to decide:

    • which bursary type you qualify for

    • how much funding you receive

    • whether the bursary continues in later years

  • Continued funding depends on:

    • satisfactory academic progress

    • availability of funds

  • The bursary contract is subject to you entering into a learnership / training contract with KPMG after completing your studies at a SAICA-accredited university

  • This usually starts after obtaining your CTA/GDA qualification

For the Pure Merit Bursary

You will need:

  • Student ID document

  • Matric certificate

  • Latest academic record

  • Proof of registration

  • Updated fee statement

For the Merit Bursary with Financial Need

You will need:

  • Payslips for both parents or guardians

    • affidavit if unemployed

  • 3 months’ bank statements for both parents or guardians

    • affidavit if no bank account

  • Affidavit if parents or guardians are absent in your life

  • Death certificate if parents or guardians are deceased

  • Utility bill

    • water, electricity, cellphone, etc.

  • Student ID document

  • Matric certificate

  • Latest academic record

  • Proof of registration

  • Updated fee statement
