About the Bursary

The CSIR–DSTI Inter-Programme Bursary Scheme (IBS) is funded by the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) to support postgraduate studies in key research areas that drive innovation and development in South Africa.

Bursary Value (Per Year)

  • Honours / PG Diploma: R160,000

  • Master’s: R170,000

  • Doctorate: R180,000

  • Once-off laptop allowance: R10,000

Minimum Requirements

  • South African citizen

  • Registered or accepted for full-time postgraduate study
