The City of Cape Town offers financial support to students to help cover study-related costs such as registration, exams, and class fees.

Late applications will not be accepted
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a resident of Cape Town
- Be registered for full-time study at an accredited South African institution (including TVET colleges)
- NOT be receiving other funding (e.g. NSFAS)
- Study in a scarce skills field identified by the City
Required Documents
- Certified copy of ID (not older than 3 months)
- Grade 12 results (minimum 65% average if currently in matric)
- Academic transcripts (if already studying)
- Proof of registration or provisional acceptance
- Matric certificate (if completed)
- Proof of residence
- Recommendation letters (teachers/mentors/peers)
- Awards/certificates
- Any relevant work/portfolio in your field

Step 1: Get the Application Form
- Download it or collect from City facilities:

- Parow Walk-in Centre
- Plumstead Walk-in Centre
- Strand Walk-in Centre
Step 2: Submit Your Application
- Submit at any listed facility OR
- Email to: external.bursaries@capetown.gov.za
Step 3: Wait for Feedback
- Successful applicants will be contacted
- If no response by 15 January 2027, consider your application unsuccessful
