AGSA Bursary 2027 – Chartered Accountancy

Apply for funding towards your Chartered Accountancy qualification with the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA).

The Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) offers bursaries to eligible South African students who are studying, or intend to study, towards becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA).

The bursary is available for full-time Chartered Accountancy programmes at universities accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).

AGSA confirms that successful bursary holders receive funding covering tuition fees, university accommodation, meals and books. Bursary recipients are also required to serve articles or enter into a training contract with the organisation after completing their studies, according to the bursary contract.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must be South African citizens and must be studying or intending to study towards becoming a Chartered Accountant. AGSA also looks for candidates with strong communication and interpersonal skills, determination, commitment to succeed and leadership potential.

Matriculants Applying for First Year

Applicants must:

  • Have matric exemption with university entrance
  • Achieve at least 60% for English
  • Achieve at least 60% for Mathematics
  • Mathematical Literacy is not accepted
  • Provide a copy of their ID
  • Provide Grade 11 year-end results
  • Provide a university acceptance letter
  • Provide Grade 12 mid-year results

First-Year Students Applying for Second Year

Applicants must:

  • Achieve more than 60% in Financial Accounting
  • Be pursuing a Chartered Accountancy programme
  • Have achieved at least 60% in Mathematics and English in Matric
  • Provide a copy of their ID
  • Provide Matric results
  • Provide their academic record

Second-Year Students Applying for Third Year

Applicants must:

  • Achieve more than 60% in Financial Accounting
  • Achieve more than 60% in Management Accounting
  • Be pursuing a Chartered Accountancy programme
  • Provide a copy of their ID
  • Provide their full academic record

Final-Year Students Applying for Postgraduate Studies

Applicants must:

  • Achieve 55% in all core modules of the Chartered Accountancy programme
  • Obtain acceptance into a CTA programme
  • Provide a copy of their ID
  • Provide their full academic record
  • Provide their CTA acceptance letter

Successful applicants can receive funding for:

Important: Training Contract
